2021
It is granted to you because the organization is superb!
Really cool that you all want to do this for us!!!
The only reason I ran in such warm weather conditions was because I was completely comfortable with your organization of the event. A big thank you very much!
I have to admit, you don't give up too quickly, congratulations!!!
Nothing but praise for the organization! It was great
Congratulations on the perfect organization again! Big thanks for this
Great organization! Thank you
It was top organization Kevin! Thank you to you signalmen and all the people involved. Until next edition
The absentees were wrong, well organised, clearly marked and friendly signalmen.
It was fine, thanks!
It was my first time walking here. I enjoyed it. Well organized and adequate support. Also my thanks to the volunteers. In short, great!!
Thanks for the good race...
Thank you very much for the perfect organization and congratulations!
The whole organization was in perfect order. For you and all volunteers and sponsors. Look forward to next time. Those gels of yours are great
Thank you so much for organizing this down to the last detail!
It was great! A perfect (corona-proof) organization and friendliness from start to finish. Kudos and a big thank you to the whole team.
Thanks for the organization!
Super organization!!!!! Thanks to all of you!!!
2019
Thank you for organizing again! Too bad I had a bad day and had to stop after the first tour. Another chance next year.
First of all I want to thank you for your kindness and your dedication!
We really had a lot of fun and we have fond memories of it despite the bad weather conditions!
Otherwise the course was really great and we would be happy to be able to participate in other events in the future!
The people working at the start, at the bar and at the awards ceremony are really fabulous and very kind just like you!
Apart from the problems with some signalmen, frankly well done for your events!
Really disappointed with this race!!! Knowing that the weather conditions would not be dire it would have been wise to cancel this race out of respect for the runners who had made the trip (130kms for me) rather than stopping the race in the middle of it!! A lack of respect for the runners. This is the first and the last time that I would put on the sneakers for this pseudo race. Not even a word of apology when handing over the chronograph chip.
Dear organisation,
despite code orange you just let the game continue. In the Netherlands it is possible to cancel the CPC The Hague (42,000 registrations) but nothing is wrong with you. Since we thought that you as an organization knew what you were doing, we left for the start.
The parking lot was next to a forest full of rotten and dead trees. We were parked there and while we were putting on our start number in the car, 2 trees fell on our car. Meanwhile, there were still runners on the track next to the parking lot. Still nothing going on. 10 minutes later, 3 more trees fell on the cars on the track, still while runners were running. My friend called the police and the fire brigade, to inform the organization. Still nothing wrong apparently, meanwhile the half marathon started cheerfully while people walked between the falling trees. Excellent and very responsible. Everything for the sport?
It is a pity that the weather played a part on Sunday, it had been a real experience!!!
Nicely specified address. Slangstraat 52
Despite the weather it was still a nice experience; nice organization!
Thank you! Shame about the weather, because I did enjoy it. It was my very first 50 km, I had a good day and of course would have liked an official result. But all understanding that the match has been stopped.
Don't waste your time on results and be happy that there were no injuries (only material damage)
Now fully thinking about the next release
See you next year
Lick your wounds first.
A runner's will is strong, but in the end most people understand that safety ALWAYS comes first. Canceling was therefore the only right decision.
Hopefully not too much material damage. Join forces (please) for a new edition in 2020. Events like this, not overseen by some major organization, should be able to continue to exist, and grow healthy
Take your time with those results. I hope the financial hangover doesn't get too big for you.
But for everyone's safety, this choice had to be made.
A shame, but quite right to cancel the match. I'll be back next year.
2018
Very nice organization, perfect down to the last detail!
Thank you!
Congratulations for your wonderful organization. Although it was very cold, the helpers/signalmen remained very friendly and alert.
The supply was SUPERB! And with the sports bag security service and lovely warm showers you belong to the better marathon / ultras in Belgium, after having completed my 249th marathon with you I dare to say this for sure.
The tasty beers and canteen were gratefully accepted!
The only minus is the medal, not the design (this is nice!) but it can only be given "AFTER" arrival as a credit to having completed your distance in the half-marathon, marathon, 50km or 100km. Also the medal is not linked to what you have run, too bad. (Marathon and or 100km? Nothing refers to ....... something.
Now you're also committing to this what (some of) those overblown city marathons do: a quick mixed bag.
If you would adjust this to the next edition, you would be among the
best organized events in Belgium. And that's not just my opinion, I noticed afterwards in the bar!
First of all, congratulations to the organization of last Sunday! You all let the runners run their race perfectly. You will definitely see me again next year!
Nice race. Fast track. Nice small event. Very well-stocked goodie bag (I especially love the personalized small thermos).
Although two went wrong just in front of me, I thought the race track was well marked + we received a very detailed description of the race track in advance by mail. Top.
If I could give one improvement: a photographer somewhere along the course so that there is at least one photo of every participant, I would personally really like it.
But really not a single point of criticism. I certainly hope to come back here again.
Thank you for organizing and thank you to all the volunteers.
Thanks for the link, very nice that certificate!!
My husband and I participated here for the first time (half marathon) and are very excited! Picobello organization, good supplies. Congrats to all employees who endured the cold all day!!!!
Hopefully we can participate again next year.
One small remark: we are probably the only two fools who missed between km 15 and 16, there we made a loop instead of walking straight ahead. There was a blue arrow on the ground with 21 km on it, we had great doubts but we declined. Unfortunately, there were no other runners around at the time. A loop of a good 500m more, a bit unfortunate for our end time!
I thought it was a very nice course. Only at about 15km it was not well marked. We had to walk straight ahead, but there was a green arrow to the left on the ground with 21 km which I followed. Afterwards I heard that that arrow was from last year. Because of this I had a distance of 21.7 km.
It was worth repeating. See you next year!
2017
My only point of criticism is: An arc or something to finish and clarity of how to finish.
I would definitely do it again. I enjoyed the views. I had plenty of food and drink and the atmosphere was friendly. Not to mention that we got some fantastic beer :-).
When I look at my GPS data and I am certainly not the only one, I do believe that the signaling can be improved next time.
In general you have done well.
I had chosen this race to run my 100th marathon.
The reason for this was because I had only heard positive comments from the runners who took part with you last year.
Before the start I had my doubts when I saw the people of the 50km go wrong.
I have tried, in an unpolite manner, to come to a solution together with Kevin, and asked to send one of the volunteers to that location.
I understand that at the time, that was not funny for Kevin because he was busy with other things at the time. But I think he solved that well, so that the next races and the ones that were still ongoing were no longer affected by this incident.
I also had some questions about my race at the beginning. If someone from the VAL cycles in front and we as runners follow that person, and then it turns out that he himself did not know where to cycle to, then I ask myself questions about the VAL.
The other runners who didn't run this extra loop decided themselves to wait a kilometer or two further so that we (the runners who had run too much) could pass and take over the lead of the race again, thank you.
Fortunately, I was then able to turn the switch again and go all the way for the win, and continue to enjoy this beautiful race.
Beautiful and fast course. Of course this was also due to the ideal weather and because there was almost no wind.
If I have to say something negative. In the future I would opt for one loop of a dozen kilometers eg. loops 2 and 3 that we had to run with the marathon. And this by running all the distances.
If in the future a lot of athletes will come to your competition, you can enter an even larger loop. For example, the first loop we had to run with the marathon.
I can't say anything negative about everything else. Cheerful signalmen, superb supplies and a beautiful course, what more should a runner have.
I hope that this match will now count for the M&U Cup because that is very important to me.
I can be short.
Just keep going (without a fall if necessary) and I'll be back at the start next year (if I stay healthy).
I had fun with many like-minded people.
There was plenty of parking and the showers were close and with plenty of hot water.
Thank all signalmen for their work, which is underestimated.
It struck me how small-scale your organization was. And especially that you took this onfor the love of the sport.
As a former organizer of a nature run in Beernem, I know how much effort you have to put in to organize such a day.
Smaller organizations organize from their hearts. But often have fewer resources.
Maybe next time organize less different competitions in one day. And extra volunteers could also be a plus.
As for the marathon: everything went fine except for the first 300 meters - there was a bicycle in front, but a few know-it-all's with GPS knew better…
Congrats!
As far as I'm concerned, everything is fine. Accessible and pleasant race track, beautiful refreshments that are also well provided and all those who had taken the time to thoroughly study the race track beforehand did NOT ran incorrectly. I could make a small remark by mentioning the way back course. I would suggest starting these pictures after the loops. So at the point where you didn't have to turn around in the 6th round, because now it was sometimes confusing because they were also indicated halfway on the loops. And next year I would like to enter the same race again if that can be arranged...
I am positive. The race track and the weather were fine. Firm start number that had become soaking wet, remained in place.
Nice wide asphalt paths and often enough refreshments along the way.
3 Belgian beers gift. Fine.
Determining the race track was also doable, but mainly because I had read your instructions carefully beforehand. I understood afterwards that it had not been clear to some, but I think they also have their own responsibility in it.
There were a bit too many cyclists on the race track for me and actually too many walkers on the last few km, which indicates that it is a beautiful route and it was a beautiful day before. The cyclists may have to be sent to the other bank next year. A little beyond that fish pond an ambulance and police were also needed, I saw.
Some extra dixi's along the route would be desirable. There was 1 at that fish hole, but it didn't look great, I thought.
I would like to come back to you.
- perfect supplies + enthusiastic employees. Although it got really hot (for the first time) on Sunday, there was always enough drink and refreshments at every post. Thanks in any case to the volunteers who have done a lot of work to try to make everyone happy.
- very nice walking environment. It is also not boring because of the loops.
- perfect accommodation (showers, toilets, dressing rooms, bag storage)
- nice goodie bag (with local beers, chocolates... - even the hat!)
- timing with chip
- perfect running weather !
- a nice pistolet afterwards
And all this for a very fair price.
What could be done better:
- the indications for the starting place + info on the website: it was a bit of a search for the exact starting location
- nothing new: the signage of the race track + uncertainty about the race track
All in all I had a successful day : perfect running weather, very nice course, perfect supplies, nice fellow runners who continued to encourage each other.... The positive definitely prevails.
Thank you very much
You always answered the many questions quickly in the months before. It is a nice course, especially the small loop. You have a good supply and the will to make something of it.
I had a nice day, as a tip I would make the course easier (if possible). So just from the start to the Scheldt and then stay on the dike, turn after 25km and then this loop twice. Furthermore, we have no complaints, only kudos to the lovely friendly people at the posts and also afterwards in the restaurant during Jan's Greek dinner. Thanks again and I look forward to the certificates.
Except for the return signage that was missing at Bunt, everything was correctly marked for the 100K.
Of course that signage caused the necessary commotion.
However, in sports results things don't matter, a football match with a miscarriage of justice can be replayed, a running match cannot.
Indeed, some 100K runners ran (kilo)meters too much, some ran too little, unconsciously and not premeditated...Forget the past...
See you next year!
2016
Through the eye of the runners it was a wonderful experience, and we gladly accept the little problems that arose. Everyone has to learn, especially the first time. I'm very happy and will, just as many others, come back! Well done, Kevin!
First of all thank you for organising this beautiful new marathon. I found nothing to complain about but I would allow bike accompaniment.
There were many cyclists on the race track. I had (without allowance) my own bike accompaniment who enjoyed taking a picture from time to time.
I would also make the signage firmer so they are not so easily blown over.
I would also like to thank the pacer who has forbidden me to start fast during the first part of the race ;-).
If my condition allows it, I will come back.
I've ran a couple of marathons and trails and I find your Durme-Scheldemarathon definitely worth it! I'll definitely come back next year.
The only remark I can give is that many cyclists where driving in our way, and from time to time I found this disturbing.
Kind regards and I'll see you next year!
Top organisation yesterday. A pity I couldn't stay longer. The awards ceremony was a bit too late for myself...
I found it a successful first edition! If the time is right, I'll come back next year.
As I mentioned on Facebook, I had a great time last Sunday, during the first Durme-Scheldemarathon. A drawback is that there were no kilometer indications. 5 km indications would be a nice improvement for 2017.
The race track is easily accessible and has ample parking nearby. The reception was smooth and friendly. In addition, we were also able to eat or drink and we had toilets at the start.
A nice goodie bag and tasty pasta after the finish. The refreshments zone were good. I really missed the kilometer indicators. So all in all I think this, and certainly for a first time, was more than successful!
Not bad for a first organisation. I would rather print the signage on a thick cardboard and laminate it. I would also foresee kilometer indications.
I'm pleased with the organisation. I'm thinking about starting again next year.
I would like to have kilometer indications, even if it's just to know we are still on the race track! But for a first edition it was successful. Just a pity I was still too sick to run under the three hours!
